Deborah Baker
Deborah Ann Baker was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ quietly in her sleep on Saturday, January 16, 2021.
She was born on Jan. 4, 1954, to Jimmy Davis and Louise (McDonald) Rowe, in Chattanooga Tennessee.
Deborah was educated in the Chattanooga public schools system and graduated from Howard High School in the class of 1971. Deborah met her love, William “Billy” Baker, Jr., and the two united in marriage. Billy served in the US Marine Corps.
The two were blessed with three beautiful children, Mark, Natasha, and Traci.
Deborah was a faithful member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, and was overjoyed to tell everyone she spoke with how much she loved her pastor and church. She would tell everyone how clearly her Pastor Anthony Williams, delivered the word of God.
Deborah was employed at Spring Creek Elementary school where she enjoyed laboring with her coworkers. She truly cared for the children and missed them when she was unable to work. Deborah was authentic, full of personality, loving, amazing, and an absolute delight to be around. She enjoyed cooking for holiday gatherings, relaxing, watching her favorite TV shows, and spending time with her precious grandchildren, Lanesha, Sienna, Devante, Marcus (MJ), Keily, Mark, Jr., and great-grandchild,Ja’Siah. Her family was her pride and joy.
Deborah was preceded in death by her husband, William “Billy” Baker, Jr.; parents, Jimmy Davis and Louise McDonald Rowe; father-in-law, William “Billy” Baker, Sr.
Deborah will be forever remembered by her son, Mark Lamont Baker, Sr., Chattanooga, Tennessee; daughters, Natasha Baker (Oscar Salazar), Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Traci Baker, of Antioch, Tennessee; grandchildren, Lanesha Baker, Sienna Salazar, and Keily Bryson, all of Chattanooga, Devante Baker and Marcus Shane Williams, Jr. of Antioch, Tennessee; Mark Lamont Baker, Jr.; great-grandchild,Ja’Siah Lebron Williams, Chattanooga; her sister, Barbara Mathis, Detroit, Michigan; first cousins, Pauletta (Albert) McCollum and Olivia Diane Byrd, all of Chattanooga; a host of other family members and friends.
Public viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until 11a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the funeral home.
A private funeral service will be held. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
