John "Nick" Burton
John “Nick” Burton III, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021, in a local hospital.
He was employed with TN Plywood as a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Burton, Jr.; sisters, Nellie-Jo Sales, Patricia Moore, and Julia Parks.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Glenda Burton; sons, Wayne Pope of Chattanooga, Myron Burton of Antioch, Tn., and Desmond Burton of Chattanooga; five grandchildren; brothers, Charles Burton of Milwaukee, Wi., and George (Alice) McCrary of Chattanooga; sisters, Carolyn Hughes of Ooltewah, and Micey Lucas of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
John will lie in state on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
A family service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with Elder Quinton Dorris as the eulogist and Evangelist Erica Dorris as the officiant.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
