Mary Jo Eidson
Mary Jo Eidson (née Hunt), was born to Mr. Harvey Harrison Hunt and Mrs. Hattie Robertson Hunt on October 3, 1927, and raised in Savannah, Tn (Hardin County). She departed this earth on January 3, 2021.
Mary Jo became a resident of Chattanooga in 1954. Mary Jo was devout in her Christian faith, to her family, and friends. She loved gardening, cooking, crafting, and reading. And of course to those who really knew her, shoes. Mary Jo was active in volunteerism throughout town, but most important to her was her years of service with the Partnership for Family and Children’s Services and the children’s care programs she volunteered within.
Mary Jo was a mother to many, but most faithfully to her daughter, and sons. Mary Jo loved and cherished every moment as “Gooma” to her grandchildren, and was especially thrilled by her great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind her daughter, Janey Hunt Rice of Maitland, Florida, sons Kirk Hubert Eidson (April) of Chattanooga, and Mark Adams Eidson (Kathleen) of Atlanta, Georgia, grandsons
Geoffrey Adams Rice (Cori), Matthew Adams Eidson, and Robert Ingle, granddaughter Cristina
Elizabeth Rice Savina (Jim), great-grandchildren Ava Redfield Savina, Geoffrey Cade Savina, and Marshall Adams Savina, beloved nephews Danny Hunt (Linda) and Jerry Hunt (Jane), their families, and dear friend Gracie Coulter, who cared for Mary Jo until her passing.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hubert Adams Eidson, her parents, brothers Seville Hunt and L.G. Hunt, and son-in-law Robert Garet Rice.
In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Mary Jo Eidson’s name to Chattanooga Partnership for Family and Children’s Services. A private graveside service will be held and is limited to family.
