Mary B. Shoffner, 99, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at her residence.

 

She was a 1940 graduate of Howard High School. She was employed by Olan Mills Studio for many years and retired in 1985. Mary was a faithful member of Avondale Church of Christ and after moving to Shelbyville, Tn., was a faithful member of the Bird Street Church of Christ. In her latter years, she returned to Chattanooga and faithfully worshipped with Avondale until her health no longer allowed her to attend.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her sons, Jerome and Timothy Knox; sisters, Virginia (Junior) Thomas and Irene Solomon; brother, Shirley (Floy Jean) Brinkley.

 

Survivors include her granddaughters, Meredith Knox of Chattanooga and Katrina (Charles) Fanning of Atlanta; two great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Sarah Knox of Georgia and Norma Jean Knox of Chattanooga; brother, Eddie (Jean) Brinkley of Wharton, Tx.; devoted nieces; nephews; adopted son and daughter, Kenneth and Ann Fleming, Sr.; other relatives, devoted friends, Leanna Fishback, Ruth Harrison, the Brandons and many other friends.

 

 Mary will lie in state on Thursday, Oct. 21, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

 

Graveside services will be on Friday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
