Roy Lee Stepp, 92, of Cleveland, passed away on November 25, 2021. He was born on Sept. 28, 1929 to the late Walter Clyde Stepp and Edna Cartwright Stepp. Roy was a lifelong resident of this area. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watersports, NASCAR and football. He was a former owner of the Cleveland Speedway. Roy also had a passion for airplanes. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Roy was a past president of the Lions Club, a charter member of the Elks Club and a proud member of the Local American Legion and VFW. He was also a charter member of the “Liar’s Table.” He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Walter Clyde Stepp, Jr.; his first wife of 53 years, Reba Campbell Stepp; and infant daughter, Patsy Deline Stepp.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 21 years, Barbara Stepp; daughter, Judy Stepp Cobb; grandchildren, Britany Cobb Kelly (Wayne) and Tyler Cobb (Kristin); great-grandchildren, Amber, Autumn, Christian, Will and Wes; great-great-grandchildren, Elias and Stella; stepchildren, Dianne Myers, Kathi Mowery (Jerry), Kelly Guffey (Joe) and Tony Thatch (Lisa); step-grandchildren, Cassidy Turner (Johnathon), Cayci Freeman (Eric) and Corey Thatch (Michelle); and step-great-grandchildren, Amelia and Cooper. In addition to these, he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Roy’s family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 28. A private graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Roy’s many friends from the “Liar’s Table” will be honorary pallbearers.
