Mearl Jean Breedlove, 71, of Cleveland, passed away on December 5, 2021. She was born on Aug. 3, 1950 to the late Riley and Hannah Derrick. She was a loving mother and wife, and loved spending time with her family. Mearl also enjoyed flowers, embroidery and visiting yard sales to look for “knick-knacks.” She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Junior Derrick, Charles Derrick, Eugene Derrick and Louise Robert; and nieces and nephew, Debbie Arrants, Michelle Armstrong and Rodney Huggins. She is also preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Breedlove.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 53 years, Donald Breedlove; children, Donnie Breedlove, Jr. (Gail), Lee Breedlove (Juanita), John Breedlove (Kelly), Sharon Green (William) and Brian Breedlove (Leigh Anne); and siblings, Gerald Derrick, Kenneth Derrick, Betty Johnson, Laverne Russell and Wanda Dockery. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Mearl's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9 at Wings of Love Church, 855 5th St., with burial to follow at the Veterans Section of Fort Hill Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the church from 5-8 p.m. at the church on Wednesday, Dec. 8.
