Delores Jane Peterson Williamson, 93, of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Thrive at Brow Wood on Lookout Mountain.

Born on April 13, 1927, on the family homestead in Boone County, Ne., the daughter of Carl Oscar Reuben Peterson and Frances Anderson Peterson.  She attended Luther College in Decorah, Ia., where she received a degree in education.  After college she returned home to start her teaching career in the Boone County, Ne., school system in a one-room school house.  She married Emroy Stoakes Williamson, also from Boone County, Ne., on June 15, 1948, at the Salem Lutheran Church in nearby Saint Edward, Nebraska.  Mr. and Mrs. Williamson then moved to Pittsburgh, PA for a brief time while Mr. Williamson completed his Commercial Art Curriculum at the Pittsburgh Art Institute.  They then moved to Lincoln, Ne., where Mr. Williamson pursued his career in commercial advertising and later into television.

In 1954, Mr. and Mrs. Williamson moved to Chattanooga, where Mr. Williamson was a principal member of the team that brought television to Chattanooga, WDEF Channel 12. Mrs. Williamson was a longtime member of the Chattanooga Junior League, the Garden Club of Lookout Mountain, Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church and an avid supporter of Lookout Mountain Elementary School, McCallie School, Girls Preparatory School, the University of Tennessee and her beloved Nebraska "Huskers".

Committed to education at all levels, Jane taught adult basic education for many years, volunteered for a number of charitable endeavors including supporting the blind in our community and the Florence Crittenden Home for Unwed Mothers. One of her passions was the Christmas Corner toy store. She loved dollhouses and nutcrackers. Her family has been blessed with many nutcrackers in their homes that fondly remind them of "Grandmother". She was a "Husker" to the end and always kept abreast of happenings in Boone County, Ne. The family farm in Nebraska has been in the family for over 100 years. Grandmother was extremely proud of that. Jane could always tell you the price of corn and soybeans, as well as the amount of rainfall for the year at the "farm".

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Survivors include her son, Mark Williamson of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Frances Williamson McCallie of Chattanooga and her five grandchildren who are unquestionably the "loves of her life", Ben, Tyler, (Mari) and Carolyn Williamson and Louise and Emma McCallie.  Her great-granddaughter, Josephine Williamson (Tyler and Mari) was added to the family tree in May 2020.

A private memorial and burial service will be celebrated by the family.

Memorials may be given to McCallie School, Girls Preparatory School and the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements are by Wann Funeral Home, Chattanooga, TN. (423) 821-7551.  To share thoughts, memories of photos please visit www.wannfuneralhome.com.
