Donald “Donnie” Ray, 67, of Chattanooga passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, February 27, 2021.

Donnie was born in Harriman, Tn., and had lived most of his life in Chattanooga.  He was a 1971 graduate of Chattanooga Central High School, owned DR Sales and Service for over 20 years, and was of the Baptist faith.  Donnie was a kind man who loved his family dearly.  He loved working with his hands and was a carpenter at heart.  He built the house that he was living in and he was always helping his family and friends with projects around the house.  Donnie was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan, but most of all, he loved his wife and cherished their “day trips” throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Ray, Jr.; twin brother, Ron Ray; and grandson, Earlee Reed.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Teressa B. Ray; three daughters, Leann (Randy) McBee, Mandy Ray, and Tina Whaley; mother, Muriel Marie Ray; brother, Stevie Ray; sisters, Tami (Steve) Childs and Jody (Ronny) McBryar; four grandchildren, Hayley (Caleb) Timmerman, Nyle McBee, Ewan Whaley, and Erynn Whaley; three great grandchildren, Gracie Timmerman, Cameron Timmerman, and Braydon McBee; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 3, at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel.  Livestreaming of the funeral service will be available on the funeral home website.

Interment will follow in the Lakewood West Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
