Charles Finney: Grandpa - The Doors

  • Tuesday, March 30, 2021

Grandpa was standing in front of his old barn's closed double wide doors. He was just standing there. Staring at those doors. I walked up behind him and asked, “What are you looking at?” He replied, "That there are many a life lesson in doors. There are many way to describe a door. There are physical doors and spiritual doors. The physical doors are exterior doors and interior doors, doors of wood or timber, glass, steel, PVC, fiberglass, aluminum glazed, and fiber reinforced plastic /FRP foors. There are even boulders and rocks used as doors. Doors are also classified as to operation: folding, sliding, swinging, revolving rolling shutter, collapsible and pivot doors. They are even identified by the method of construction: panel, flush, louvered and wire gauze doors. Doors are portals where we have ingress into and egress from an enclosure."

The greatest physical door was met by three women who wondered how they would open it.

Mark 16 4-8 - And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

The greatest spiritual door is the acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal savior. Faith and belief in the birth, death and resurrection. Being saved, bought by the blood of Jesus shed at the cross. Praying, confessing and repenting daily.

John 10-7 - Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

John 10:9 - I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

John 14-6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Psalm 24-7 - Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

For those who have accepted Jesus as their personal savior, their door is familiar because they are well acquainted and have an intimate relationship with Him.

For those who have not received Jesus, their life's journey to the door will be hindered by the sin and confusion of the World.. But if they only believe. then knock on the door.

Mathew 7-7 - Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Doors usually are gateways or portals from one place to another. One type of door that can be most confusing is the revolving door. Where the occupant is caught in the door and goes in and out over and over again and never entering..Spiritually it is where we sin and repent, sin again, Accepting not our abominations and accursed things and not doing away with them. Accepting not that you have spoken against Powers and Jesus.

2 Corinthians 2:11 - Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Matthew 7:21-23 21 - Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. From your birth you passed through a portal from of your mother's womb into the world. Upon reaching an age of accountability, knowing right from wrong, the Holy Spirit touched the door of your heart. Upon you opening the door and accepting Jesus as your personal savior, you passed into a door of protection and blessings. Daily, praying, repenting and praising you pressed toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

One day you shall stand at a final door. Your mortal body will not pass, but you immortal soul will. The gates of Heaven.

Mathew 26-21 - His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Remember the RISEN this Easter. Believe upon Him. Accept Him as your personal savior. Repent, before the outer door shuts. Forever closed. Your immortal soul closed in eternal darkness and sorrow.

REJOICE as He is no longer in the tomb behind a closed stone. PRAISE HIM as He sits on the right hand of the Father in Heaven having defeated Death, Hell and the Grave.. HE is waiting for your acceptance and home-coming. Knock upon His door and it will be opened to you. Enter into eternal light and joy..
