He enjoyed the view from his front porch and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds visit his feeders. He took great joy in picking the perfect birthday card or doing that special little extra touch to help a family member of neighbor out whether it was cooking the best mashed potatoes in the world (per his great-granddaughter), loaning his tools and expertise to his sons and friends, or countless other little gestures of love that he demonstrated daily.

Left to treasure his memory are his three sons, Mark (Keri) Pike of Summerville, GA, Tim (Misti) Pike of Tellico Plains, TN, and John Jr. (Robin) Pike of Calhoun, GA; brother, Ted (Judy) Hayes of Turtletown, TN; sisters, Fay Pike Carolin of San Antonio, TX, Anita (Jerry) Shoemaker of Dalton, GA, Bobby Jean Hayes of Ranger, GA, and Rita Hayes of Ranger, GA; his cherished grandchildren, Faith, Hope, T.J., Mason, Brooklyn and Caleb; his great-granddaughter, Kara; and several nieces and nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 15.

He will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park with Mark Pike, Tim Pike, Allen Cain, Joshua Cain, Frantz Philossaint and John Jr. Pike serving as pallbearers.

Due to the national health crisis and the COVID-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
