Johnny Hargis
The angels guided Johnny “Jay” Hargis, Sr., at age of 65 years, to his forever heavenly home on Monday, April 12, 2021.
Jay was from South Pittsburg where he lived with his wife, Patricia Beene Hargis. He was born on Feb. 18, 1956, to the late John and Virginia Hargis. Jay had served in the United States National Guard for many years. He had worked for Tennessee Alloy and Huntco Steel as a crane operator until his retirement.
Jay was a wonderful husband, father, brother and Papa. Above all things, he loved his family dearly. He had the heart of loving cars, collecting guns and an avid fan of University of Tennessee Volunteers. In his pastime, Jay also enjoyed the pleasure of traveling with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. Hargis and Virginia King Hargis; son, Dustin Hargis; brother, Charles “Chuck” Hargis and grandson, Gage Hargis.
Jay leaves his memories to his beloved wife, Patricia Beene Hargis; sons, Johnny Hargis, Jr., Travis (Ashley) Howell and Mark Green; daughters, Christy Hargis, Heather (Joseph Maloney) Condra, Bailee Howell-Hargis and Lexus Howell-Hargis; brother, Jeffery Hargis; sister, Linda Sue Hargis; grandchildren, Makayla Hargis, Olivia Shrum, Zane Graham, Lorilai Melton, Malakai Green and Damon King along with several nieces, nephews and blessed friends.
The family will have visitation on Thursday, April 15, from 3-8 p.m. CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tn.
Per Covid regulations, anyone visiting will be required to wear a mask and social distance will be in place.
Jay will be laid to rest at a later time in a private ceremony performed by his family.
