Edward Gary Beasley, 73, arrived at his new home in Heaven on April 2, 2021. He was at his residence in Georgetown, surrounded by family. Gary was born in Gainesville, Fl. on Aug. 19, 1947.
He worked as a lineman at Cleveland Utilities and Orlando Utilities before obtaining his bachelor’s eegree in Christian education from Central Christian University.
Gary was an amazing man, full of the energy he needed to do all God wanted him to do on this earth. His first full-time ministry position was Bachman Home for Children in Tennessee, where he served as house parent, Christian education director, and activities director.
Later he worked at Orange Avenue Church of God in Orlando, Fl. as associate pastor and athletic director for the Dixie Village Academy. He went on to serve as Christian education director, daycare director, and youth pastor at Inverness Church of God. While in Inverness, he obtained his Exhorter’s Certificate with the Church of God and was later ordained by Covenant Community in North Carolina.
His final challenge was founding the Solid Rock Christian Academy in Inverness, Fl. and serving as principal and administrator until his retirement.
He enjoyed playing softball, going camping, leading worship, playing guitar and making everyone laugh.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruby (Spivey) Beasley.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Vivian Owen Beasley; his son, Edward Ryan Beasley and wife, Cari; daughter, Charity Denise Lazenby and husband, David; two grandchildren, Mikayla Beasley and Madison Eadler; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Daniel; one half-sister, Kate Rogers; one half-brother, Charlie Beasley; and many nieces and nephews.
Public visitation will be held Saturday, April 10 at Hopewell Church of God in Cleveland from 3-5 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 5 p.m.
