Zaya 1943 Postpones Grand Opening 2 Weeks

  • Friday, April 9, 2021

Local company Kals International announced on Wednesday the two-week postponement of the opening of Zaya 1943 Korean Steakhouse.

The Grand Opening event benefitting Chambliss Children's Center will now be held on Saturday, May 1, and the restaurant will be open for dinner starting Sunday, May 2.

The Zaya 1943 Korean Steakhouse is opening on the Northshore. This locally owned fine-dining Korean steakhouse serves dishes inspired by traditional Korean BBQ.

A variety of pork, seafood, and dry-aged beef will be served with freshly made Banchan. Diners can choose from simple dishes such as soups, stews, and bibimbap to elaborate dinners served family style for two to four people. A curated selection of wines, beers, and alcohol, including some original cocktail creations inspired by Korean flavors, are available to further enhance the dining experience.

“We are very excited to be a part of an already exceptional dining scene here in Chattanooga,” said general manager Steven Chandler. “We hope to offer a unique experience that not only excites the local population but also helps drive dining tourism.”

A grand opening event will be held on Saturday, May 1, from 4-8 p.m. Guests are invited to sample items from the menu and enjoy beer, wine, and a special cocktail inspired by the tastes of Korea. Tickets are $100 per person and on sale now at zayakorean.com/opening. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Chambliss Children’s Center.

Zaya’s 1943 Korean Steakhouse is the latest concept of Kals International. Carlos and Eunice Kal have over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry and are owners of other original local favorites Totto Sushi & Grill and Nooga Bop and franchise owners of Rodizio Grill Hamilton Place.

The interior for Zaya’s 1943 Korean Steakhouse has been redesigned from top to bottom to include comfortable seating, grills at each table, and a kitchen both upstairs and downstairs.

Zaya 1943 Korean Steakhouse will be open for dinner only from 5-10 p.m. Reservations are not required but are strongly suggested. To make a reservation, visit zayakorean.com
