Recycling Right Shows Appreciation For Our Fragile Planet

  • Friday, July 16, 2021

The Red Bank Recycling Drop Off Center is now open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Red Bank partners with Hamilton County to operate the facility, so also thank your county officials for offering this opportunity to recycle right.

Recycling right equals respect for workers, markets, transparency, and the planet. Citizens show respect for employees by bringing in clean recyclables. Unrinsed food containers attract bees, yellow jackets and worse. Who wants to work around unrinsed milk jugs in 90 degree weather?

We show respect for markets by giving the re-manufacturers only those recyclables that can actually be turned into a new product. Keeping recyclables segregated eliminates contamination and reduces the carbon footprint. Single stream requires sorting by huge expensive machines, that are often jammed up with “seasonal contaminants” like garden hoses and Christmas lights, or worse.

Transparency is one of the best parts of drop off centers, you can see inside the bins. If someone tosses in a dead cat or a piece of machinery it gets removed before the bin leaves the drop off center.

Recycling right reflects our appreciation for our fragile planet. Hot weather advice, sort your stuff before you come.
