Eugene “Gene” Dietz, 73, of Chickamauga, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at a local health care facility following a brief illness. 

 

Mr. Dietz was a lifelong resident of Catoosa and Walker Counties where he was a 1965 graduate of Ringgold High School and a member of the Gospel Way Baptist Church.  Mr. Dietz worked as a technician in the heating and air business for many years and he was a member of the Local 43.  Throughout the years Mr. Dietz enjoyed working on cars, coon hunting, talking on his CB Radio where he was known as “AC”, and working in his flower garden. He was an avid TN Vol and UT Mocs fan.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Sudie Dietz; and brother, Jackie “Jack” Dietz.

 

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Rachel Dietz; daughter, Dianna (Ronnie) Murphree; three granddaughters, Lori (Justin) Roberson, Christie (Jake) Baker, and Lindsey Murphree; two great grandchildren, Jansen and Whitley Roberson; several nieces and nephews; and his two cats, Bubbles and Coco.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Herman Kapher officiating.

 

Interment will follow in the Dietz Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends Saturday from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA.
