Chattanooga Area Food Bank Welcomes New 2021-2022 Board Members

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank welcomes six new members to its 2021-2022 Board of Directors: Rob Reagan, CTO, Text Request; Tracey Smith, account representative, Mutual of America; Maeghan Jones, president, Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga; Jennifer McIntyre, financial advisor, Raymond James & Associates; Martha Leiper, executive vice president, chief investment officer, Unum; and Murphy Sauceman, principal consultant, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. The board is led by James L. Catanzaro, Jr., shareholder and chair of the healthcare and nonprofit sections at Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C.

Other board officers include Vice-Chair Jennifer Cookston, controller, Baylor School; Treasurer Phil Harris, chief financial officer, Intersign; and Secretary Mercedes Bartow, advancement, The McCallie School.

“We’re so grateful and extremely fortunate to have a Board comprised of some of our area’s most dedicated, strategic leaders to join us in our mission to end hunger, especially as the need for food assistance continues to surge,” says Melissa Blevins, president and CEO of the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. “We welcome their expertise, passion, and insights to move the Chattanooga Area Food Bank forward into 2022.”

“The Board of Directors is very proud of the Food Bank and the staff’s dedication to serving our neighbors facing hunger- especially during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr. Catanzaro said. “The work of the staff and volunteers throughout our region has been nothing short of inspiring. And it wouldn’t be possible without the tremendous outpouring of support from the community. The Board of Directors is excited to advance the work of providing food to our neighbors facing hunger and deepening the work of helping families escape the cycle of food insecurity.” 

The 2021-22 terms are effective July 1 through June 30, 2022.
