Dorothy Mae Shaffer, 82, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 in a local hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Willie Shaffer; her son, Herman Shaffer; parents, Minnie and James E. Beavers; brothers, Paul Beavers and Jessie Beavers; sister, Evelyn Barnes; and sister-in-law, Mertle Beavers.

She attended Community Hall Church for many years. She loved God and her family more than anything. She enjoyed Gospel music and spending time with her family. She was a former cook at Shoney’s.

She is survived by son, Richard Shaffer; daughters, Norma Shaffer (David Dawson), Diane Browder (Thomas Williamson); siblings, James Beavers, Robert Beavers, Glenda Beavers, Linda Beavers, Caroline Dover and Gladys Sliger; grandchildren, Mack Kirkland, Anna Davis (Travis), Kenny Killian, Terry Shaffer (Trish), Jennie Stinnett (Cody), Crystal Browder (Aaron), David Browder (Tansy), Dewayne Shaffer, Jennifer Shaffer (Rowdy); great-grandchildren, Nathan Beatty, Haley Beatty, Joshua Stinnett, Maxx Stinnett, Kiley Craven, Autumn Craven, Bryson Shaffer, Anthony Shaffer, Terry Shaffer, Matthew Shaffer, Jonathan Marshall, Hayden McDaniel, Emily McDaniel; and great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Beatty and Danyella Beatty.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Ave. Chapel with Pastor Jeannie Cissom and Brad Benton officiating.

The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Aaron Taylor, Dewayne Shaffer, Nathan Beatty, Cody Stinnett, Travis Davis and Rowdy Flowers serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
