Collegedale Parks and Recreation Department is offering anyone ages 18 and older the opportunity to learn how to “Swing Dance” next Wednesday.
"Swing dance is described as a lively style of social dancing made popular as early as the 1920s in which a dancer often lifts, spins and flips his or her partner. Considered both hip and cool, swing dancing is a favorite among social dancers of all ages," organizers said.
Collegedale’s Swing Dance Social is for both aspiring and seasoned swing dancers. Participants are invited to “show off their moves” at Chestnut Hall at The Commons next Wednesday. Introductory lessons will be from 6-6:30 p.m., with an open dance floor from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Registration for the Swing Dance Social is $5 per person. Interested participants can go to collegedaleparksandrec.com to register. For questions or additional information, call 423-468-1971 or email parksandrec@collegedaletn.gov.
