Baylor Middle School spelling bee winners Ananya Chakraborty, Piper Ryan and Jacob Tate

Baylor eighth grader Piper Ryan was the winner of the Baylor 2022 Middle School spelling bee, claiming the championship after 33 rounds by spelling the winning word, "fordize."

Seventh graders Ananya Chakraborty and Jacob Tate placed second and third, respectively.

Piper was runner-up in the 2021 with Jacob finishing third.

All three spellers will advance to the zone spelling bee at Bright School on Feb. 3.
