Cecil A. Sutton, Jr., 64, of South Pittsburg, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022.

Cecil was a lifelong resident of South Pittsburg, Tn. He was born in Chicago Heights, Il., on Aug. 1, 1957. Cecil loved family, friends, his South Pittsburg Pirates and Tennessee Vols.  Cecil was competitive by nature, just ask anyone who played him at any of the many sports he loved; he even lettered at every sport offered at South Pittsburg High School where he graduated in 1975.  Cecil made one of the most memorable touchdowns ever in South Pittsburg history, leading the Pirates to a championship final.  Cecil worked for TVA for 25 years, where he was a scrubber board operator/ AUO.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elza and Pauline Snow; Joseph and Rose Sutton; and his parents, Cecil and Barbara Sutton.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beverly Chance Sutton; his son, Ben (Stephanie) Sutton; brothers, Vince (Lisa) Sutton, Karl (Melissa) Sutton; sisters, Cindy Sutton; Beverly (Calvin) Nunley, Kathie (Darrell) Nunley; nephew, Trey (Gigi) Chance; niece, Autumn (Jeremy) Chance; Cecil was especially enjoying the childhood of his great nephew, Jackson Chance; great niece, Aria, and his many other beloved nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Ben Sutton, Trey Chance, Josh Nunley, Brock Nunley, Jody Prestwood, Nick Pickett, Chip Stewart, Eugene Chance.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 3-6 p.m. CST at Rogers Funeral Home of South Pittsburg prior to the Celebration of Life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m. (CST) in the South Pittsburg chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Nunley officiating.

The family will have a private burial. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kimball Tabernacle of praise elevation youth group or Holly Avenue United Methodist church.
