Peggy Joyce McKenzie, 85, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 30, 2022. She is the daughter of Millard and Madge Clark of Etowah.
She was a loving mother and granny. Peggy loved spending time with family. Her love and light shine bright through her love for the Lord and her music. She sang with local groups, The Melatones and Gospelettes, for many years. She loved sharing the Word with family and friends.
Peggy was a Mary Kay Consultant for 47 years.
Peggy was preceded in death by parents, Millard and Madge Clark, of Etowah; daughter, Robyn Blankenship; husband, Jeremiah McKenzie; and father to her children and husband of 21 years, Edward Akins.
Survivors include children, Randy and Libby Akins and Renee and Ken Ramsey; grandchildren, Ryan Adams, Tyler Adams, Amber and Travis Torbett, Paul and Julie Conrad, Stacey and Stacy Dill, Greg Dill and Heather Cox; and great-grandchildren, Abigail Adams, Sully Conrad, McKaylee Torbett, Madison Torbett, Makala Dill, Mitchell Dill, Miranda Dill, Lexi Dill, Maddie Dill, Allie Dill, Deanna Dill, Lucas Dill, Gabe Dill, Kendrick Cox and Kaylyn Cox.
Special thanks to Remember Me Senior Care of Cleveland, where Peggy resided for 10 months. We met many great nurses that took special loving care of mom, and they became like family to all of us. Also, Hearth Hospice for showing such love and compassion to all of us.
Peggy will be missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3 at Companion Funeral Services of Cleveland. Travis Torbett will officiate the service after visitation. Graveside service will be held at Chestuee Church of Polk County following the Funeral service.
Pallbearers include Tyler Adams, Ryan Adams, Gabe Dill, Stacey Dill, Ken Ramsey and Randy Akins.
