The Finery House Announces Grand Opening At Cambridge Square

  • Thursday, December 1, 2022

Locally owned and operated jewelry store, The Finery House, has announced its grand opening at Cambridge Square in Ooltewah. The event is scheduled for December 3, 2022 from 11am to 7pm, with patrons encouraged to drop by and see the new store and the unique holiday selection of jewelry and gifts. The Finery House will occupy 1,000 square feet on the public square.

Cambridge Square is a commercial and residential community located in Ooltewah, just east of I-75 North. It is home to more than forty local restaurants, retailers, health & fitness businesses, healthcare and professional service office tenants.

The Finery House is the concept of owner Janie Colbaugh who opened the brand’s first location in a small office in the Loveman’s Building in 2020. Operating by appointment only, the business began to grow and the need for a more public space became apparent. Colbaugh spent more than a decade managing Rone Regency but decided to go her own direction when Rone was purchased by a chain jeweler.

“We are thrilled to have come this far,” said Ms. Colbaugh. “We have a tremendous amount of support from our existing customers and are looking forward to meeting new people at our location in Cambridge Square. We love the community’s commitment to local business owners and its relaxed shopping environment, which both fit well with our business model.”

Based on her experience in a larger retail environment, Ms. Colbaugh wanted The Finery House to have a much more intimate, customized feel for its customers. She works with suppliers in places such as New York, Israel, and Italy, but the selection process for the individual pieces all takes place at the local level. Customers work directly with the Finery team to identify every element of jewelry needs, whether it is a piece created from scratch, or a re-deign of a treasured piece that has simply gone out of style.

“We do everything in house,” Ms. Colbaugh said. “We have an onsite jeweler who has more than 30 years’ experience in the business, and he works in the shop alongside the sales and design teams. Every element of the buying or repair experience takes place right here in Ooltewah, which allows our clients to play an active role in the process.”

The design process at The Finery House is also a departure from the typical retail jewelry model. Pieces are concept based on the personalities, profiles, and preferences of the individual customer. And in cases of re-design, aged pieces can be transformed to better suit the client’s taste. The Finery House will also offer an extensive repair service menu including ring sizing, stone replacement, and polishing and cleaning.

“We are very excited for Janie and her team, and we know that Cambridge patrons will find The Finery House to be a great addition to the square,” said Jim Cheney who oversees marketing and leasing for the development. “We wish her the best of luck.”
