Barnett, Dr. Brian (Cleveland)

  • Thursday, December 1, 2022
Dr. Brian Barnett, 90, passed on to heaven on November 28, 2022. Born in London, England July 19, 1932, he lived through the Blitz of WWII and served in the Royal Air Force. He married his beloved “Jeanie” upon returning from his tour in Egypt, where he lived in a tent for two years.

He felt the call to the ministry, and after graduating with the first of many degrees in theology, he and his bride began a ministry together that would eventually lead him to relocate his family to the United States, with opportunities to preach the gospel around the world.

He ministered in the Elim Pentecostal Church, and prior to immigrating to the United States, served as that denomination's international youth director and pastor of the second largest church. He sensed God calling him to join the Church of God and he served as evangelist, church planter, pastor, state overseer, college president and on numerous committees and boards.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Jean, and their daughter, Hilary Ann.

Brian is survived by his daughter, Shirley Pace (Terry); two grandchildren, Hilary Reid (Michael) and Robert Pace (Skye); two great-grandchildren, Addison Katherine and Elizabeth Quinn Reid; his sister, Marion Barnett-Adams; and niece, Valarie Sambrook.

A memorial service will be held at North Cleveland Church of God, Dixon Chapel on Friday, Dec. 2. Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m., with the service following at 1 p.m.
