Lorraine Ann Freeman was born on Monday, May 22, 1961, at Fitkin Memorial Hospital in Neptune, New Jersey.

She passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Lorraine attended Brainerd Junior High in Chattanooga. While in school, she was a cheerleader and drill team member. She sang in the choir and she played the clarinet. In 1979 she graduated from Asbury Park High School in New Jersey.

As a young lady she enjoyed fitness and competed in bodybuilding. As an adult, she worked in the hospitality and food service industries, but she particularly enjoyed working in the healthcare industry, where she worked for years as a residential group home manager in her mother’s business, Loving Care. Here, she managed psychiatric residents on a daily basis, supervising their activities, providing household management, and social outings for the residents.

Later she would work as a personal care aide for her sister’s business, Loving Home Care. Here, she cared for seniors who suffered from dementia, stroke etc. Helping them in their private homes with activities of daily living. Her clients enjoyed her work and her engaging personality.

Lorraine never had her own children, so she gave her nieces and nephews the love she would have given to her own. She was the oldest of three sisters and the third oldest of seven children. Later in life, she enjoyed being a homebody watching 'Criminal Minds' and comedy movies.

To her family she was Lorraine, the loving, kind, lively sister, aunt, niece and cousin. To her friends and acquaintances, she was “Jersey”, that New Jersey girl. However you knew her, Lorraine was that sunshine in a cloudy room and on a cloudy day.

She is predeceased in death by her mother Patricia, brothers Michael and David, grandparents Monroe and Bessie, aunt Betty Ann Greenhow, uncle Rev. Monroe and cousins Billy and Malika.

Her cherished memories will remain with her spouse Mark, siblings, Denise (Gerald), Brian, Jeff, and Aisha (Mohamed); aunts and uncles, Kevin, Tommy, Beverly and Leila; nephews and nieces , David, Martin, Alexis, Thomas, Britney, Deonta, Yusuf and Hasan and great nephews and nieces, Zashun, Kennedy, Kyrie, Kaiah and Kehlani and many cousins and friends.

She will be greatly missed and her spirit will live on in the many lives that she touched.

Her body will lie in state from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, with Rev. Calvin White officiating and Brian Freeman, eulogist.

Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
