Donald Flanders passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2022.

He was born on March 7, 1943, to Chess and Geneva Flanders in Adrian, Ga. He grew up in Savannah, Ga., graduating from Groves High School in 1961, where he played baseball, football and basketball and was elected president of the Student Council. Flanders Automotive Advertising created radio, TV and newspaper advertising for new car dealers in the Southeastern U.S. He was a member of the Chattanooga Jaycees where he served as Vice-President and State Director.

Don was married to Marty Flanders for 34 wonderfully happy years. Together they enjoyed family trips to Tybee Island Beach with children and later grandchildren, "driving vacation" trips, dinner with family and friends, visiting with children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching whatever activity the children chose to do. He loved the Lord and was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church and a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class.

Don was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathleen, Virginia, Odessa, Margie and brother, Chester.

He is survived by his wife, Marty, daughter, Ashley Gibson and son, Brad McCarter (Jennifer), grandchildren, William Gibson, Cassidy Gibson, Eli McCarter and Emily McCarter; sisters, Faye Dasher (George) and Julie Rodriguez and cherished family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 9, from 4-6 p.m. with a celebration of life service to follow at 6 pm, at Hixson United Methodist Church. Interment will be held on Dec. 10, in Knoxville.
