Garrett “Buster” Feltner Tweed went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 31, 2022, at the age of 79, in his hometown of Hixson, Tennessee, surrounded by his wife and loved ones.

Born November 5, 1942 in Weaverville, N.C., to Harry and Irene Tweed, Buster was the youngest of three siblings. Married to his beloved wife, Sondra, for fifty years, they created a legacy of three children and fourteen grandchildren.

He was an Air Force veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He then served in a long career with TVA, retiring as a foreman. Through the years, he enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching his daughters and granddaughters play softball. A grandchild enthusiast, Buster (Pop-Pop) would frequently travel to watch his grandchildren in their many sports, plays and church activities. He also enjoyed genealogy research, participating in a bowling league, collecting elephants, and spending time with his wife at Dollywood watching bluegrass and gospel shows. Buster participated in the Senior Olympics and won several medals in bowling at the district and state level.

Buster was a believer in and faithful servant to Jesus Christ. He was a dedicated member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church. He always gave with a generous heart and an open hand. His good humor and fun nature endeared many to him. Buster had a strong will, strength to persevere through adversity, and a spirit that never quit.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Lee Tweed, his mother, Martha Irene Riddle Tweed, and his sister, Patty Tweed Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Sondra Collins Tweed; daughters, Laura Tweed Burnsides Arnold, Amy Tweed Smith (Jamie), and Harriet Tweed Brunker (Fred); grandchildren, Emily Burnsides, Brady Burnsides, Gage Arnold (Ashland), Gavin Arnold, Emily Arnold, Cooper Arnold, Noah Arnold, Abigail Smith, Isabelle Smith, Sarah Smith, Johannah Smith, Charlotte Smith, Caleb Brunker, and Benjamin Brunker. He is also survived by his sister, Susie Tweed Arnold White, four brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, nine nieces and nephews, and nine grand-nieces and nephews.
