Taylor De Adder delivered the game-tying single in Sunday's 3-2 comeback win over West Alabama.
The Lee softball team saved it's best for last on Sunday afternoon as it rallied for three-runs in the bottom of the seventh to steal a 3-2 win over West Alabama and end the Gulf Shores Invitational with a 2-1 record.
For the second straight day, Nyah Vogel was dominant in the circle, giving up just two runs on six hits over six innings. West Alabama's Kaeleigh Crutchfield (0-1) was equally impressive as she limited the Lady Flames scoreless until the final at bat.
As many late-inning rallies tend to do, the seventh inning comeback for the Lady Flames began with an error on the Tigers as Alexa Scalzo reach on an error by the catcher. Javaria Smith followed with a single to short and Breanna Patton reach on a fielder's choice.
With one down and two on, Lee head coach Emily Russell called on Razo to pinch hit and she promptly ripped a run-scoring double through the left side to cut the Tigers lead to 2-1. After a pitching change, Taylor De Adder smacked the game-tying single right up the box to score Patton and advanced to second on the throw. Annalyn Ormsby finished off a four RBI weekend with a walk off sacrifice fly to give the Lady Flames the victory.
"I thought we played well today. Nyah had a great game and gave us the chance to be where we were in the seventh," said Russell. "We had a lot of people contribute to the success of today. Several people came in and got things going off the bench. That is a strength of this team. We were on the other side of that last night and came up short."
Madison Barnett (1-1) was credit with the win as she came on and worked a scoreless seventh inning in the circle for the Lady Flames.
Mary Grace Sheffield triple home a run in the second and Kacy Noland singled in another run in the third to account for the West Alabama (1-2) offense.
"It was a long weekend with the schedule and game times, but they responded well and we got better," added Russell. "They will enjoy their day off tomorrow and get back to preparing for LMU on Wednesday."
The Lady Flames (2-1) will stay on the road and visit Lincoln Memorial for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday at 1 and 3 p.m. Lee will play its home opener on Saturday as it hosts the Lee Invitational Tournament from Butler Field. The Lady Flames will battle Ohio Dominican on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. and Emmanuel College Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
