Covenant Competes In Berry Field Day Invitational

In the final tune-up before next week's USA South meet, the Covenant track and field teams set three program records over the weekend at the Berry Field Day Invitational.

The women placed 11th in the meet and set two of those program-best marks.

On Friday, Jae Woods topped her own program record in the javelin with a long distance of 30.48 meters to place fourth overall in the event. Woods also collected points for the Scots with her discus throw of 32.64 meters which placed her seventh in that event.

In Saturday's track action, Elysse Carrillo bested her program record in the 400-meter event with a second-place run and time of 1:00.10.
S.K. Lipperd came in fourth in the same event as the senior set a personal record of 1:00.53.

Other top-10 performances for the women's team included Sarah Holler's eighth-place finish in the pole vault at 2.76 meters on Friday. Anna Baker ran the 100-meter hurdles in 18.66 to place seventh, while Emma Christensen also finished seventh in the high jump at 1.46 meters. Maggie Henry came in ninth in the 800-meter event at 2:32.92.

The men's program record set during the weekend was in the 110-meter hurdles as RJ Bascom placed 14th overall with his time of 18.11.

Noah Norman set a personal record in the 200-meter run on Friday with his time of 22.82 as he placed 20th. Seth Bergeron finished the 400-meter in 53.68 and Benjamin Jones finished in 2:10.65 in the 800-meter.

Covenant heads to the USA South meet on April 20-21 in Berea, Ky.
