Shirley Maddux, 83, departed this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at her home. Born on Jan. 19, 1939 to the late James and Pearl Curtis McCracken, she was a native and lifelong resident of Bradley County and a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She was a feisty lady that made everyone laugh. She loved purses and earrings, planting flowers, fishing, working word search puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Maddux; son, Ricky Lynn Rogers; brothers, Ralph, Hillard and Winford McCracken; sisters, Louise Hamilton and Mary Lane; and a baby sister, Ruby McCracken.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Mike Rogers (Tammy), David Marler (Ed) and Jerry Marler(Sylvia); siblings, Betty Rutledge (Bill) and Eugene McCracken (Katherine); grandchildren, Michael Rogers(Tara), Larry Rogers (Heather), Corey Marler (Julieann), Dennis Rogers (April), Nichole Carroll(Josh), Casey Rogers, Quinton Williams and Lacey Young; 20 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
Family and friends will meet at Ramsey Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 1 to Celebrate the Life of Shirley Ann McCracken Maddux with a graveside committal service.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
