Melydia Clewell Resigning From County DA's Office

  • Wednesday, May 11, 2022

Melydia Clewell has resigned her position as chief of staff in the Hamilton County DA's office, effective May 17. She was recently offered and has accepted a research position with a Hollywood production company.

Ms. Clewell is married to Hamilton County District Attorney Neal Pinkston, and there was controversy over the nepotism issue.

She was earlier placed on administrative leave.

Ms. Clewell said, “It’s been an honor to serve the people of Hamilton County. I would not have discovered this new opportunity if not for an orchestrated smear campaign against my husband. While a few nasty people intended to inflict personal harm, God is using this for my good in a way I never imagined possible. It’s an amazing outcome for which I’m deeply grateful and humbled.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to have such an incredible career opportunity. My first assignment is providing background and backstory information for a project starring Robert DiNero that centers on an old Chattanooga homicide case. When filming starts we’ll offer a couple of local media crews the opportunity to go behind the scenes. I’m beyond excited and can’t wait to be able to share more about it.”
