Grace Academy’s Athletics Department is excited to announce a new Head Baseball Coach for the High School program, Cordaro Cummings. Cordaro has served as the Head Middle School Baseball Coach for Grace the past 2 years. Cordaro will join Grace Academy full time in the fall as a Lower School Physical Education Teacher and a Special Electives Teacher in the Upper School.  Cordaro has several years of both playing and coaching experience.

Cordaro began his collegiate career at NCCAA D1, Hiwassee College, where he played for 2 years and then transferred to NCCAA D1, Piedmont College.

During his time at Hiwassee College, his team won the Mid-East Regional Championship and went to the World Series. He finished his final 2 years at and NCAA D2, Lane College, where he was the starting pitcher his Junior and Senior year. Cordaro was also given the opportunity to play overseas in Panama, Guatemala, and Dominican Republic. He has over 7 years of coaching experience both in school and select circuits, and has served many years helping build skill development of youth ranging from ages 10-18 years old.

Cordaro has served as a Family Development Specialist at Health Connect America and a High School STEM teacher at The Howard School. During the past 2 years that he coached at Grace Academy, he has lead his team to 2 very successful seasons. The first season he helped lead his team to victory, gaining the title “ISC Small School Champions”, where they battled back winning the game, 16-15 after being down 15-8. This past season he had a very impressive record, doubling the wins from his first season. During the off season, Cordaro coaches a 12U select baseball team called the Chattanooga Smokies.

“Cordaro is a very energetic, young coach who has a great head on his shoulders. Not only does he provide a great benefit of energetic youth, but he also brings maturity beyond his years to the table and that is a nice blend”, says Athletic Director, Bob Ateca.

“He has a way of thinking outside the box and a special way of connecting with each student athlete. We are excited for this transition and know that he will most definitely strengthen our Baseball Program. says Bob Ateca.
