James Robert “Jim” Barrett, 81, a resident of Athens, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 in a local hospital. He was born in Perth Amboy, NJ on June 8, 1941, a son of the late Eugene & Genevieve Barrett. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Athens, and a longtime member of Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Sean Deeds; two brothers; and two sisters.

Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia “Pat” Barrett; two daughters, Kathleen Deeds and Jennifer Harmon; one son, James Robert Barrett, Jr., three grandchildren, Lyndsey, Jenna and R.J.; six great-grandchildren, Emma, Charlotte, Asher, Kenzie, Ezra and Paige; three sisters, Susan Gryzb (Walter), Carol Riley and Genevieve Bagnell (Joseph); and numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Athens. There will be no formal visitation.
