Michelle “Mickey” Norton
Michelle “Mickey” Norton passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Hamilton Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Edwin Norton; twin infant sons, James and Michael; son, James E. Norton; and sister, Monica Feighery Whaley.
Mickey was born in Dalton on Sept. 24, 1942, to the late James M. and Helen Miller Feighery. She was a lifelong Dalton resident and a graduate of Dalton High School.
She loved to travel and had the opportunity to do so extensively with her parents. However, her favorite destination was Disney World. She could be found sporting a watch with her “namesake” throughout the years.
Mickey was best known by all that love her as a caring, compassionate, and kindhearted person that was generous and selfless. She constantly put her friends and family above herself. She was a caregiver and a provider. She made each individual around her feel truly special and adored. She cared deeply, wholly, and unconditionally not only for her family by relation but her family by choice and her friends alike. There were no limits.
She had an uncanny knack for knowing when someone needed an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, or a positive or motivational word about a tough situation. She was always there even if you didn’t know you needed her. There were no airs or shows—only support. She would hug you with her whole self and envelope every ounce of her being into letting you know you were loved and never alone. She was the personification of an act of kindness.
Mickey is survived by her daughter, Tammy Holmes; son and daughter-in-love, Jeremy Norton and Allison Hammontree; grandson, Odin Norton; sister, Vickey Gordon; nephew, Michael Gordon and family; niece, Danielle Joyce Ezell and family; and her wonderful extended family, Mark Wilson and Robin and Bayley Ellenburg.
