James Worley
James David “Jimmy” Worley, 80, lifelong resident of Hixson, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 21, 2022. He is dancing on the streets of the gold with his soul mate of 61 years, Mittie Jean Worley.
He was a lifetime member of Hixson First Baptist Church, loved fishing and the Atlanta Braves. He was a longtime employee of U.S. Pipe and was a retired truck driver from IJ Food Service. Most recently, he enjoyed selling tomatoes, jelly and apple butter around the Hixson and Soddy Daisy area. Jimmy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend.
In addition to his wife Mittie, he was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mammie Worley; and sister, Martha Rose Smith.
Those left to cherish his memory include daughters, Angela (Jonathon) Stone and Sarah (Steve) Logan; brothers, Don (Pat) Worley, Gary (Alma) Worley and Roy (Pam) Worley; eight grandchildren, Vanessa (Danny) Lynn, Serena Brown, Kyle (Rachel) Stone, Jerry (Amanda) Logan, Amber (Jeremy) McBay, Jessie Ann (Wendell) Sisk, Jessi Lynn (Ryan) Cross and Shelby (Eric) Byrd; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 3pm until 8pm on Thursday, May 26, and 9-11 a.m. on Friday, May 27, at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday in the funeral Home chapel, Rev. Terry Shannon officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson.
The family wishes to thank all of the Hamilton County Sheriff and EMS personnel, TWRA members and other volunteers for their heroic efforts on the night of May 21.
