James Clifton “Bull” Durham

James Clifton “Bull” Durham, 83, of Chattanooga, passed away on May 20, 2022, at Soddy Daisy Healthcare. 

He was a union painter for many local contractors and TVA. He retired from TVA after 25 plus years.  He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Clifton was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and attended the University of Chattanooga. He was a member of the famous Hamilleers Music Group that played many years at the Mountain Opry. He was an “honorary” fishing pro at Camp Columbus. He served in the Army Reserve (USA Garrison 3397th).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Martha B. Durham. 

Survivors include his cousins: Kathy Lewis of Acworth, GA, Martha Brown of Chattanooga, and Buford Ashley of Soddy Daisy; special friends, Mark Stolpmann and Jim Day of Chattanooga. 

Visitation will be at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, with a graveside service to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Chattanooga Memorial Park, with Father Charlie Burton officiating. 

Memorials may be made to Notre Dame High School or St. Jude Hospital.
