McCaffrey, Michael Vincent

Michael Vincent McCaffrey died on June 28, 2022. He looks forward to the life to come with Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior of us all.

Michael lived in Chattanooga since January 1975. He received a B.A. degree in English at Georgetown University and his M.A. degree in English at the University of Dallas. He worked for the Social Security Administration for 31 years.

His interests included literature, sports and Scriptural readings. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Chattanooga.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Frances McCaffrey; sisters, Mary Elise, Dorothy Genevive, Frances Eileen and Joanne; and brothers, Charles Joseph, Robert Stephen, Patrick, John Charles (Skip), Thomas Christopher, Donald Anthony and James Joseph. 

Survivors include his dear friend, Sandra Magin, of Lafayette; son, Colin and his wife, Charlene McCaffrey and their children, Connor Douglas and Alaina Elizabeth; and Colin’s mother, Billie McCaffrey. Other survivors include his sisters, Ursula,
Angela, Margaret and Christine; and his brother, Philip. He is also survived by a sprawling network of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 1 at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Athens.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
