Hamilton, Charles "Phillip" (Benton)

  • Wednesday, June 29, 2022
Charles “Phillip” Hamilton, 38, closed his eyes in death and opened them in the arms of his Lord and Savior on June 28, 2022, with all those that loved him by his side.

He was born on Aug. 25, 1983, to Debbie Foster Walden and the late Phil Hamilton.  Throughout life, Phillip enjoyed fishing, drawing and woodworking.  Throughout his elementary school years, he loved working with kids that were his age with disabilities.  He made lifelong friends and has never met a stranger. Phillip was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was dearly loved by his family and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Moma’s Memory:

Phillip’s favorite Bible verse was John 14:1, “Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in Me.  His “sermon” would always be on John 14:1. During that message he never failed to say “Moma, that means, “you don’t worry about things”.  When he was done, he would pass the offering plate and ask for prayer requests.  In his “closing of his service," he, Jason and Rena’ would sing their favorite old Red Book Hymn, “Love Lifted Me.”  Those words and song out of the mouth of my babies will forever stay in this Moma’s heart till my last breath.  We will miss you Phillip, but rest assured we will be together soon.

In addition to his father, Phil Hamilton, he was preceded by his sister, Rena’ Houk Banther; paternal grandparents, Harvey and Irene Gentry Hamilton; maternal grandparents, Charles Foster and Bob Moon; and great-grandparents, Tommy Foster, Ora Nell Davis, Luther “L.C.” Walden, Opal Ensley, Walden McCallister, Mack McCallister and Linda Walden Frady.

Left to cherish the many memories include his loving parents, Debbie Foster Walden and Jerry Walden; wife, Sarah Hamilton, of Jasper; cherished children, Garrett Hamilton, Evan Hamilton and Torie Hamilton; granddaughter, Maddison Hamilton; brother, Jason (Keisha) Houk; and maternal grandmother, Jean Richardson Moon.  Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 1 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor John Cain and Rev. Wes Foster officiating.  Interment will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, with Jason Houk, Corey Houk, Evan Hamilton, Garrett Hamilton, Evan Hamilton, Mark Bennett and Wes Foster serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dawson Houk, and B.J. Kilgore.

Family and friends will gather from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.HigginsFuneral.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to Higgins Funeral Home of Benton.
