Rose, Bobby Ralph

Held Long Career In Roadway Construction

  • Friday, July 1, 2022

Bobby Ralph Rose, 85, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at a local hospital.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1936, in Knoxville, to Ralph Monroe Rose and Mildred Lucy Rose. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Rose; brother, Joe (Mary) Rose; nephew, Joseph (Heather) Rose and son, Michael Rose.

He was a highly respected fixture in the roadway construction community for over 50 years including the early phases of Interstate construction up to the point of his retirement. He began in 1955 with the Tennessee Department of Transportation; working his way up to run some of the largest site and roadway construction projects in the East Tennessee area before retiring in 2011 from Talley Construction Company Inc. There are not many roads in the Chattanooga area that do not have his footprint on them.

Bob had a very direct demeanor on the job sparing no attention to detail as his foremen can attest. He was a mentor to many people in the construction industry today, they loved him dearly as did his friends and family. He will be missed.

He was a member of the Air National Guard, an avid golfer, boater, and a great father. He loved to travel and spend time with his family when he was not working.

No arrangements are planned at this time.
