Ramon “Ray” T. Pulliam, Ret. made his debut into the world on February 16, 1941, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Sadly, Ray, died peacefully at his residence on July 22, in Niceville, Florida.

 

Ray grew up in Robertsdale, Alabama living on a dairy farm. While in high school he played in the band while also playing football and becoming an All American player.

 

While in high school, Ray met the love of his life, Sarah Helen Ratliff who became his wife and together, they raised their family.

 

After graduation, Ray joined the U.S. Army in 1960 as a private and in 1965 was chosen to go to Officers Candidate School for infantry at Fort Benning, Georgia. Ray proudly served his country for 20 years, having many duty stations and serving two tours in Vietnam. He received many accommodations and awards while enlisted which include two Silver Stars and six Bronze Stars. 

 

Ray was preceded in death by Nathan and Ruth Pulliam, Ralph and Thelma Owens, and his wife, Helen Pulliam.  Also preceding him in death were his sons, Scott and Paul Pulliam, as well as his sister, Judy Owens.

 

He is survived by his loving family, his brother, Carl Raglin of Chicago, Carol McClure of Memphis, and Patricia Neve of San Antonio, Tx.  Ray had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will miss him.

 

He is also survived by his loving partner and companion, Ms. Patricia Richardson of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, with whom he spent many wonderful and special years.

Visitation will be held at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 TN-153, Hixson, Tn. 37343 on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 5-7 p.m. Services will be held on Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.  Internment is at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, with full military honors, at 1200 Bailey Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37404.
