Ensley, Kent E. (Georgetown)

  • Monday, July 4, 2022

Kent E. Ensley, 70, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully and joined many family and friends in Heaven on Saturday, July 2, 2022 in a local healthcare facility.

An accident in 1982, left Kent a quadriplegic, but did not leave him handicapped.  Kent became a source of encouragement to others, and a wealth of knowledge that he used to help others.  Kent was on several advisory boards, one of which was District 3 Council Member for Tennessee Family Support Program, and represented Meigs County.  He has also been recognized several times for outstanding achievement and was awarded Honorary Staff Member 22nd Representative District, Tennessee State Representative.  Kent has influenced many, but would be quick to say he has had much support from family and friends.  One of Kent’s sayings was, “This is not fairyland and fairy tales, but the real world.”  He encouraged people to pursue their dreams and make a difference.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint Ensley and Helen Ensley; sister, Janet Ensley; brother, Chris Ensley; sister-in-law, Betsy Ensley; and brother-in-law, Ronald Presley.

He is survived by his brother, Randy Ensley, of Georgetown; sister, Pam Presley, of Cleveland; nephews, Jamie Ensley, of Clayborne County, Tn. and Josh Ensley and wife, Amy, of Cleveland; niece, Melissa Presley, of Washington DC; great nephews, Carter and Tanner Ensley, of Cleveland; and Alma Ensley, the love of his life for over 40 years, of Red Bank.

A celebration of his life will be held at noon on Friday, July 8 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory, with Pastor Steve Dills officiating.  Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens, with Billy Breeden, Tim Proffitt, Dan Howell, Ronnie Bullard, Scott Gibbons and Travis Hamilton serving as pallbearers.   A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-noon, prior to service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send a thank you note to a caregiver, treat them to a meal. Caregivers are an important part of our lives. Donations may also be made to the Benevolent Fund at Bradley Veterinary Hospital, 5527 Georgetown Road, NW, Cleveland, Tn. 37312.
