James McLowery "Mac" Agnew
James McLowery "Mac" Agnew passed away on July 4, 2022, at his home in Walker County, Georgia.
He was born July 8, 1933, the only child of James David Agnew and Bertie Bohannon Agnew. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Grace McCauley Agnew on July 6, 2001.
He was a graduate of LaFayette High School and served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Reichhold Chemical in Kensington, Ga., and was a member of Chattooga Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children: Jim (Becky) Agnew of LaFayette, Ga., Leslie (Jay) Holder of Ashburn, Ga., and Polly (Malcolm) Pickard of LaFayette, and by grandchildren: Laura Beth (Drew) Gandy, Matt (Rebekah) Searels, Ashley Dixon, Jason (Heather) Pickard, and Shawn Pickard, and by nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 5, from 5-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at Chattooga Baptist Church, 256 Chattooga Church Road, LaFayette, on Wednesday, July 6, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery located on Highway 337 in the Center Post Community.
Pallbearers will be Malcolm Pickard, Jay Holder, Clayton Ingram, Jason Pickard, Shawn Pickard, and Haidon Pickard. Honorary pallbearers will be at Peggy Bohannon, Clay Martin, Michael McCarty, Buster and Carol Rodgers, Charlie and Gail Foster.
