Rezoning Case Delayed On 53-Acre Site In Lookout Valley

  • Monday, August 8, 2022

A zoning case on a 53-acre industrial site in Lookout has been delayed for a month.

Bill Ramsey is the owner of the property behind Covenant Transport at the Cummings Highway exit of I-24.

Donna Adams Shepherd of A.D. Engineering said there was an issue over whether the zoning needed to be M-4 or the current M-1. She said plans are to remove a section of a hillside and break up the rocks that are taken out.

The issue is if that would fall under the definition of a quarry.

Andy Stone of the nearby Black Creek development said they had concerns about a quarry being nearby for possibly an extended period.

Ms. Shepherd said it is a prime industrial site and has attracted a number of potential buyers.

She said there was a possible deal for two million-square-foot warehouses, but that fell through.

The property has a permit for a borrow pit.
