Lee’s School Of Music To Host Orchestra Concert

Lee University’s School of Music will present the Lee University Orchestra in performance on Monday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall, under the direction of artist-in-residence Ismael Sandoval.

The Orchestra will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 1,” Felix Mendelssohn’s “The Hebrides,” Johannes Brahms’ “Hungarian Dance No. 1,” and Georges Bizet’s “Carmen Suite No. 1.”

In addition to student performers, several Lee music faculty and Cleveland community members will play woodwind, brass, string, and percussion instruments for the performance.

“The Lee Orchestra proudly invites you to attend our fall Masterworks concert which will feature a variety of iconic composers and musical selections,” said Mr. Sandoval.

Mr. Sandoval, a Mexican-American conductor who has an undying passion for bringing people together in the beauty and power of music, currently serves as the assistant conductor of the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, the music director of the CSO Youth Orchestras, music director at First Christian Church of Chattanooga, and director of the Lee Orchestra. 

He received his Master of Music in orchestral conducting from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, under the tutelage of Bruce Hangen, and his bachelor’s degrees in music education and composition from the University of Florida.

“We hope everyone can come and enjoy a night full of excitement, intrigue, drama, and musical excellence,” said Mr. Sandoval. “The musicians of the Lee Orchestra have been working exceptionally hard and will blow you away with their artistry and passion, so come and be immersed in a thrilling musical experience." 

The concert is a free, non-ticketed event, and open to the public.
