Cempa Community Care's CEO Shannon Burger has been recognized by the Tennessee Primary Care Association with the 2023 Kathy Wood-Dobbins Executive Leadership Award at the organization's annual conference in Nashville.
The award, according to the TPCA, “recognizes an individual, either a member or non-member of the Association, who, within their role as executive leader of an organization, advocates vigorously for health centers and their patients, resulting in support and recognition of the quality primary care provided by health centers in our Tennessee communities.”
Founded in 1976, the TPCA strives to improve access across Tennessee to primary healthcare services “through leadership, advocacy and support as the voice of Community Health Centers.”
“To earn this recognition from the TPCA is a career highlight and a validation of the work we pursue every day at Cempa,” said Ms.
Burger. “Cempa and the TPCA are mutually beneficial organizations and I am so glad that my personal passion to make primary care more accessible has been a help to both organizations and the people they serve.”
This is the second time recently that Cempa has been honored by the TPCA. In 2021, Cempa earned the Organizational Excellence Award from the same group. In addition to this award, so far in 2023 Cempa has earned a “Champions of Health Care” recognition for its Diversity & Inclusion efforts while also being named the “Latino Community Champion” award winner from La Paz Chattanooga.
