A father of two who was just announced as a Teacher of the Year in the Cleveland City Schools remains hospitalized after suffering a traumatic brain injury during a motorcycle crash, according to a GoFundMe page.

Ivan Migovich is a special education teacher at Cleveland High School.

The GoFundMe has been started to help with medical expenses.

It says, "On Oct. 27, our beloved brother, Ivan Migovich, faced a life-changing accident that has left us all deeply shaken.

Ivan was involved in a severe motorcycle incident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. The situation was so critical that he had to be airlifted from the accident scene to receive immediate medical attention.

"In addition to the traumatic brain injury, Ivan also sustained a significant injury to his left lower leg, which has required multiple surgeries to address. As we write this, Ivan is on a long road to recovery, and his doctors have recommended several months of intensive rehabilitation at Shepherd's Center in Atlanta to help him regain his independence and quality of life.

"This unexpected tragedy has not only taken a toll on Ivan's health but has also placed a tremendous emotional and financial burden on him and his family. During his rehabilitation, neither Ivan nor his devoted wife, Zoryana, can work, as their focus is entirely on his recovery journey.

"Ivan Migovich is a beloved and dedicated father, husband, and teacher who has committed his life to helping others. His passion for teaching extends to both the classroom and the church, where he nurtures young minds and imparts valuable life lessons. Ivan's unwavering commitment to education and community has touched countless lives, and he has dedicated himself to helping people through education.
