The 2023 Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) Men’s Soccer All-South Region Teams were announced Tuesday, November 28. The teams were voted on by the sports communicators in the south region. Lee University men's soccer player Eamon McLaughlin was named to the First Team All-GSC.
McLaughlin led the attack for the Flames this year. His seven goals leads the team and is tied for fourth most in the GSC. His 41 shots are fourth most in the conference and has 21 of those shots on goal.
He was named United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week for the Week of September 5. He was also GSC player of the week for that week. He has played and started 14 games this season for Lee averaging 85 minutes a game. He also has two game winning goals. McLaughlin was on the First Team All-GSC this season as well.
David Polanco, a junior, forward from Key Biscayne, Florida, of Barry University was selected as the 2023 D2 CCA Men’s Soccer South Region Player of the Year. He was also named the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Year and tournament MVP. He has, to this point in the season, recorded 15 goals and one assist. He has led the nationally ranked Barry team to a 13-4-1 record, an SSC Tournament Title, and a trip to the NCAA region finals.
Barry, Rollins, and Florida Tech led the way with two first-team players each. Barry and Florida Tech led the way with four total selections from both teams. West Alabama, Nova Southeastern, Rollins, and West Florida each had three total selections. Eleven different schools had at least one selection including 10 different schools represented on the first team alone.
