Faye Baxter Toomey, 87, of Athens, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at Willow Acres in Riceville.
She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was the daughter of the late JD and Lockie Rowland Baxter. She was also preceded in death by her husband Clifford L.( Pete) Toomey, and sisters, Jean Evelyn Baxter and Betty Baxter Shell.
She was a member of East Athens Baptist Church and was a graduate of McMinn County High School in 1954. She was associated with Sears for 25 years in sales until her retirement in 1992.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Karen Toomey of Athens and Larry (Hoby) and Jean Ann Toomey of Riceville; two grandsons, BJ(Clarence) Toomey and Chad(Pamela)Toomey; two granddaughters, Brittany Toomey(Chaiyim) Casavant, and Jordyn Toomey (Derek) Slack; nine great-grandchildren, Hunter and Mila Toomey, Piper and Tyler Toomey, Nolan and Ileigh Casavant, and Jadyn, Baylor and Parker Slack; one sister, Jimmie Webb of Athens; one brother, David (Peggy) Baxter and one sister-in-law, JoAnn (Dip) Grubb.
A graveside service will be conducted, 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30 at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. Richard Holden officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 30 at Smith Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Barry Toomey, Jr, Chad Toomey, Derek Slack, Chaiyim Casavant, Larry Toomey, Barry Toomey.
