Veterans Day Ceremony Will Be At National Guard Armory

The Chattanooga Area Veterans Council, along with Hamilton County Government and the city of Chattanooga, invites the community to join them in celebrating the service of all veterans of the Armed Forces. The celebration will take place at the Tennessee National Guard Armory at 1801 S. Holtzclaw Ave. on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 am.

There is free parking. Veterans are encouraged to wear an item identifying their branch of service.

The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter # 203 will serve as the Honor Guard and, at the conclusion of the ceremony, will be joined by buglers Major Andy Addison, USAF [Ret] and David Cox, USCG Auxiliary for Taps and the final gun salute.

A massing of the colors from the CAVC member and associate organizations will be coordinated by Alan Syler, American Legion Post # 14. All Gold Stars family members will be recognized.

Scott Van Curen, Administration Officer, Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, Department of Veterans Affairs will keynote the celebration, with Congressman Chuck Fleischmann and Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp bringing remarks. Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly will recognized the contributors to the Veterans Bridge initiative with a Commemoration Proclamation and a reading of the veterans’ names.
