Girls on the Run of Southeast Tennessee will host its 5K event this Sunday at the Tennessee Riverpark Shelter #4, and they are welcoming members of the community to participate.
"Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program that uses fun running games and dynamic discussions to teach life skills to girls in third to eighth grade. During the ten-week program, girls participate in lessons that foster confidence, build peer connections and encourage community service while they prepare for an end-of-season celebratory 5K event," officials said.
This season, participation in the 5K event is open to the public and all proceeds will benefit Girls on the Run of Southeast Tennessee.
Registration cost is $20 per person. Participants are welcome to run or walk as this is a non-competitive, untimed event. Every finisher receives a medal. Parking is free.
Packet pick up will be at the registration table on the day of the event beginning at 1:30 p.m. Festivities start at 1:30 p.m., with the 5k starting at 3 p.m.

"Join us for 5k fun and cheer on the girls who completed the Fall 2023 Girls on the Run program," officials said.
