Parkridge East Hospital dedicated the Witherow Mammography Suite on Thursday. Named for Lisa Witherow, the director of imaging at the hospital, who passed away earlier this year after an 18-year battle with breast cancer. Ms. Witherow’s family, friends and colleagues attended the dedication to honor her memory.
The new mammography suite features state-of-the-art 3D mammography screening with artificial intelligence (AI).
"Ms. Witherow was a champion of breast health," officials said.
"Her bravery in the face of cancer inspired many, and shared her story often in the hope of inspiring others to take action for their own health."
Kathryn Price, director of diagnostic imaging and radiology at Parkridge Medical Center and close friend of Ms. Witherow, says she can’t think of a more perfect way to honor Ms. Witherow’s legacy.
“Early detection and regular screening are the best tools we have for finding and defeating breast cancer,” Ms. Price said. “This mammography suite that bears Lisa’s name will help countless women in the fight against breast cancer.”
